New Delhi: James Anderson, the legendary fast bowler from England, recently announced his retirement from international cricket. With a desire to continue playing in the IPL, Anderson had put his name up for the auction. Despite hoping to be picked up by a team, Anderson did not receive any bids at the auction. Surprisingly, not a single team showed interest in the seasoned player, whose base price was set at 1.25 crores. It was a disappointing turn of events for Anderson, as all 10 teams passed on the opportunity to sign him for the upcoming season.

Actually, the IPL teams decided not to bring his name to the auction. This means no team wanted to buy him. Anderson’s name did not even come in the accelerated auction. Following the initial rounds of bidding, the 10 franchises submitted a list of 143 players for the accelerated round, which featured players from number 117 to 557, but Anderson’s name was not included in the list.

Anderson wanted to play IPL:
James Anderson is 42 years old and he was the oldest cricketer to put his name in the IPL auction this season. Anderson said that he wants to play IPL, his body is still fit and he can learn a lot from IPL. He came to the auction with this hope but he did not find any buyer.

James Anderson’s dream of playing in IPL is now crushed! No franchises were interested and he received no offers during the accelerated round, it’s hurt to heart that dream broken.#TATAIPLAuction #ipl2025auction#IPLAuction #JamesAnderson UnSold. #IPLAuctiononJioStar pic.twitter.com/wMxttXUPpF

James Anderson’s T20 career:
James Anderson has played very little T20 cricket in his career. This player played only 44 T20 matches in which he has 41 wickets to his name. Anderson played his last T20 match in 2014. It has been 10 years since Anderson played T20 cricket, due to which no team bet on him.
